Applications to International Writers' Programme

The New Zealand Book Council is calling for applications to its International Writers' Programme. In conjunction with a Creative New Zealand audience development initiative, the Book Council can offer support to New Zealand writers attending high-profile international literary events.

All writers should have a good publishing track record, and applications must be accompanied by a letter of endorsement from their publisher. Inquiries are welcome from writers in all fields of literary work (fiction, poetry, children's literature, drama and literary non-fiction). Writers on promotional visits connected with the international publication of their work are also eligible to apply for assistance.

In 2007, grant recipients were New Zealand writers Bill Manhire, Carl Shuker, Anna Smaille, C. K. Stead (to participate in festivals in Britain), Lloyd Jones (Toronto), Charlotte Grimshaw (Sydney) and Karlo Mila and Brigid Lowry (Queensland).
