The swinging sixties in all their glory bring back the golden age of dance halls to Hamilton with Fullhouse Production’s season of Flagons and Foxtrots, written by Alison Quigan and Ross Gumbley, this October and November at The Meteor.
Set in the backdrop of the Saturday night dance hall era, Flagons and Foxtrots is an unmissable kiwiana comedy.
The Archie Moore Trio dream of stardom and the first step towards that dream is to play at Sid Jenkins Saturday night dance. However grumpy Sid does not trust that the young lads are up to it.
To complicate things, young Jack has gone and entangled himself with two shelia’s. He must choose between his long-time girlfriend Jill and the alluring Rita.
Director Andrew Kaye said the move to stage Flagons and Foxtrots was a natural one, following a successful season of Shakespeare’s tragedy King Lear with a feel good comedy for all.
“It’s a timeless embarrassment. Whether you were around to dance the twist in the sixties or not, the play strikes a chord with all walks of life, with the rites of passage familiar to all and the kiwiana comedy doesn’t miss a beat”.
The production will see a charming mix of local fresh faces take to the stage is song, dance and laughter.
Pull on your best dancing shoes and come along to have a bloody good time like we used too. Share in the nostalgic celebration as we head down to the dance hall for a night of music, laughter and rampant hormones.
