The 2012 Todd New Writers’ Bursary was awarded to Gigi Fenster to complete a new novel, The Good Winter. Creative New Zealand contributes $10,000 towards this bursary and the balance of $10,000 is provided by the Todd Corporation Ltd. Her first novel, The Intentions Book (Victoria University Press, 2012) was described in The Sunday Star Times as “an altogether stunning debut”.
Through a bequest from the Estate of Tup Lang, the Tup Lang Choreographic Award of $2,300 has been offered to Kelly Nash towards the development of 'Meme (Skin)'.
Through a bequest from the Estate of Brent Lewis, two NZ/Aotearoa Scholarships of $8,000 each have been offered to two musicians:
James Ioelu was awarded $8,000 towards completing the final year of a masters degree in voice at the Manhattan School of Music.
Dickson Wing Fai Fung was awarded $8,000 towards postgraduate study in performing arts medicine and violin performance in London.
Andrew Baldwin was awarded $10,000 for the Edwin Carr Scholarship towards study for a masters of composition at the Royal College of Music in the United Kingdom.
Through a bequest from the Louis Johnson Estate Bianca Zander was awarded $24,500 for the Louis Johnson Bursary towards completing a novel. This comprises $22,850 provided by Creative New Zealand and $1,650 in interest from a gift from the Louis Johnson Estate.

Suzanne Cowan was awarded the 2011 Tup Lang Scholarship worth $5,016 towards attending the Candoco International Artists Lab. This comprises $1,716 provided by Creative New Zealand and $3,300 in interest from a gift from the Tup Lang Estate.
John-Paul Muir was awarded one of the 2011 Jack McGill Scholarships, worth $10,000 towards postgraduate study in piano at the Guildhall School of Music.

Anna McGregor was awarded the Butland Music Scholarship, worth $10,000 towards a masters degree in clarinet at the Royal College of Music, Stockholm. This comprises $7,800 provided by Creative New Zealand and $2,200 in interest from a gift from the Butland Music Foundation.
Ewan Clark was awarded the Edwin Carr Scholarship, worth $15,000, towards a post graduate diploma in composition for screen at the Royal College of Music. This comprises $9,000 in interest from a gift from the Edwin Carr Foundation and $6,000 provided by Creative New Zealand.
Breton Dukes was awarded the Louis Johnson Writers' Bursary worth $24,000, for the towards writing a collection of short stories. This comprises $22,600 provided by Creative New Zealand and $1,400 in interest from a gift from the Louis Johnson Estate.
