We run a series of weekend workshops around New Zealand to help people understand how to apply for funding through our funding programme, or how to improve their applications.

Take your work to the international stage

Audience and market development

International audience and market development programmes also upskill New Zealand artists, arts practitioners and arts organisations. Programmes include: 

International visitor programme - Te manu ka tau
Selected New Zealand artists, practitioners and arts organisations from the performing arts, literature and visual arts sectors market their work to invited international presenters, curators and directors.

Participants in these programmes who receive an invitation to take their work to an international festival/audience are able to apply for funding directly from Creative New Zealand's international programme.

Distribute (tour) the arts across New Zealand

Creative New Zealand runs workshops with organisations interested in touring or presenting the arts around New Zealand. Workshops upskill local presenters and venues such as theatres and galleries to distribute the arts and build regional audiences for New Zealand work.  

Specific artform or sector conferences and capability programmes

Recent programmes run to help upskill or provide networking opportunities to artists and arts practitioners include:

  • ARTSpeak Pasifika
    A two-day national fono for the Pacific arts industry held in June 2010. The keynote speaker was Albert Wendt, and the programme included workshops across a range of art forms. The fono also held open discussion and Creative New Zealand presented an overview of its main funding programmes.
