Refresher Package

This package helps your organisation deliver and/or extend high quality programming and explore new opportunities for growth and development. It also provides training on how to diversify your organisation's income so it is more sustainable.

The international programme provides contestable opportunities to apply for coaching to develop an international strategy and to take part in market research and cultural exchange initiatives. Organisations can also apply for international presentation opportunities.

The Toi Pōneke Activation Initiative - Growing Income Streams

This initiative will help organisations to increase their income by developing new or existing revenue opportunities.

The Ākina Foundation will present two, full day workshops and provide 20 hours of coaching over five months. By the end of the programme participants will have:

  • explored opportunities to develop new income streams and be ready to pitch for a new investment
  • evaluated opportunities to develop new income streams and assessed business models and market fit
  • created a plan to implement new income streams
  • developed leadership and learning capabilities and behaviours for social change.

Participants will be expected to spend a day a month developing their ideas and plan.

The training is provided in partnership with The Akina Foundation and Toi Pōneke Arts Centre. The workshops will be held in Wellington but organisations from anywhere can apply.

Who is it for?

General managers, chief executives and senior managers. One place is available in the Extension Package for organisations in the  Toi Tōtara Haemata or the Toi Uru Kahikatea investment programmes. Note, organisations do not need to be based in Wellington to apply.

When and how much?

  • Workshops on 6 December 2016 and 13 February 2017.
  • Coaching between December 2016 and April 2017.
  • Applications open on 3 October and close on 28 October 2016.
  • $500 plus GST per organisation.

Evaluating databases, information and management reporting systems

Arts organisations will be provided with advice on how to:

  • access customer data and make better use of databases
  • assess and address problems with data, databases, information and management reporting systems and their implementation
  • choose a new CRM or ticketing system
  • integrate information systems they use regularly.

Participants will take part in a full day consultation and audit within their organisation. After which, you will receive a summary report with practical recommendations and an action plan.

Who is it for?

Staff responsible for marketing, audience development, box office management or who are involved in management reporting. Participants should have a working knowledge of your organisation’s databases, ticketing, CRM and online systems.

Five places are available in the Refresher Package for organisations in the Toi Tōtara Haemata and Toi Uru Kahikatea investment programmes. 

When and how much?

  • Applications open on 17 October and close on 18 November 2016.
  • Programme is delivered between January and March 2017.
  • $500 plus GST per organisation.

Digital strategy coaching

Arts organisations will be supported to develop a digital strategy so they can manage their creativity and business in an increasingly digital environment. Participants will attend two full-day workshops and can apply for up to $3,000 (plus GST) in matched funding to implement an aspect of their strategy.

Regardless of your organisation’s size or digital ability, a documented strategy will help you make the best use of digital tools and channels to improve operational efficiency. It will also support:

  • marketing and audience development
  • fundraising
  • education
  • other business goals.

Participants will receive coaching and tools and work with peers from similar types of organisations. The coaching will cover developing a digital strategy framework, digital priorities and tactics and increasing the use of mobile, social and video communication channels.

Who is it for?

General managers, directors, marketing managers and staff responsible for online marketing. Five places are available in the Refresher Package for organisations in the  Toi Tōtara Haemata or the Toi Uru Kahikatea investment programmes. 

When and how much?

  • Applications open on 17 October and close on 18 November 2016.
  • Programme is delivered from December 2016 to June 2017.
  • Workshops in January and April 2017 (dates TBC).
  • $500 plus GST per organisation.

Sponsorship coaching

This new initiative will assist organisations to audit existing sponsorship programmes and products so they can be aligned with sponsor partnership objectives. It will also help you identify the most appropriate industries to approach for sponsorship.

Specialist provider The Gemba Group will provide coaching on one or more of the following modules via an application process:

  1. Product Audit: an audit of existing products via a face-to-face workshop.
  2. Product Development: using Gemba’s product portfolio assessment and sponsorship value map you will identify gaps in your programmes, for which new products could be developed.
  3. Partner Targeting Principles: will help you identify the industries most aligned with your organisation and audience base. You will be coached on how to identify potential partners, eg in banking, automotive or insurance, based on consumer insights, and how to effectively target potential partners.

Who is it for?

Senior managers and staff who are responsible for sponsorship and revenue development and/or monitoring and implementing an existing sponsorship strategy.

At least six places for organisations in the Toi Tōtara Haemata and Toi Uru Kahikatea investment programmes. 

When and how much?

  • Applications open on 31 October and close on 25 November 2016.
  • Programme is delivered between January and June 2017.
  • $500 plus GST per organisation.

International strategy coaching grants

These grants are to help arts organisations develop an international strategy and acquire and apply strategic planning skills.

When and how much?

  • Up to five grants of $2,500 plus GST are available for organisations within the Growth, Extension, Refresher and Change packages in the Toi Tōtara Haemata and Toi Uru Kahikatea investment programmes.
