Revenue generation strategy

This is an opportunity to undertake bespoke, intensive coaching with the Giblin Group. You will develop or update a revenue generation strategy to increase your organisation’s ability to fundraise and to diversify its income.

You will be assessed and offered tailored coaching which could include:

  1. A situational analysis. An assessment of your current fundraising capability, priorities and targets aligned with your organisation’s strategic plan, including a review of your organisational documents.
  2. Coaching on the fundamental principles of fundraising. Sessions will be a mix of online and face-to-face, including a half-day workshop on-site with your Board and management.
  3. A tailored and practical revenue generation strategy, with input from your Board and staff, developed by you with assistance from the Giblin Group.

Who’s it for?

Senior managers and staff responsible for sponsorship and revenue development or monitoring and implementing an existing fundraising strategy. Three places are available for investment clients. 

When and how much?

  • Applications are open now and close on 14 November 2018.
  • Situational analysis starts in December 2018.
  • Coaching takes place between January and June 2019.
  • $500 plus GST per organisation.

Digital capability

This initiative offers an opportunity to receive coaching to help you upskill, work on new digital projects and implement a digital strategy. You’ll receive coaching from The Audience Connection which you can use to suit your training priorities and needs in the digital space.

Successful applicants must have a digital strategy.

Organisations can also apply for up to $3,000 (plus GST) in matched funding to implement a project identified through the coaching and aligned to their digital strategy.

Your coaching could focus on one or more areas such as:

  • digital analytics
  • website development
  • social media best practice
  • live streaming and video
  • email marketing
  • Facebook advertising
  • search engine optimisation.

You will receive:

  1. Tailored digital coaching for your organisation and an introduction and needs assessment meeting.
  2. Fifteen hours of individual coaching via a combination of face-to-face and online.
  3. Ongoing access to a coach who will guide you and provide relevant support materials. 

Who’s it for?

General managers, directors, marketing managers and staff responsible for digital. Five places are available for investment clients. 

When and how much?

  • Applications are open now and close on 14 November 2018.
  • Coaching takes places between January and June 2019.
  • $500 plus GST per organisation.
  • Matched grant of $3,000 available on application.

Diversity action

Available for Auckland organisations only. 

This is an opportunity to build organisational capability to respond to diversity and inclusion in the arts. You will learn new skills to increase the quality of your leadership and engagement with diverse communities.

The initiative will be delivered by Oranui Diversity Leadership. Participants will receive one-to-one coaching and learn how to:

  • develop strategies for change and processes that respond to the many facets of diversity (ethnicity, culture, gender, disability)
  • develop inclusive recruitment and human resources policies
  • engage with a broad range of audiences
  • explore and understand organisational cultures in which all people feel valued and respected
  • embed diversity and inclusion into strategies and everyday practice.

Who is it for?

Senior managers, directors, and staff involved in programming and audience development. Five places are available for Auckland-based investment clients. 

When and how much?

  • Applications are open now and close on 14 November 2018.
  • Coaching will take place between February and June 2019.
  • Workshops: February and May 2019 – location and date to be confirmed.
  • $500 plus GST per organisation.

Volunteer coaching

Need help selecting, training and retaining the right volunteers for your organisation?

Delivered by Volunteering New Zealand (VNZ), this coaching initiative is a great way to increase the success of a busy organisation while building the foundations of future opportunities. It will help you to:

  • recruit more volunteers that can enable your organisation to offer more services, run more programmes or be more engaged
  • understand how you can support your existing volunteer workforce more effectively
  • understand how to recognise the valuable work your volunteers do for your organisation
  • evaluate your organisation's volunteering-involvement culture, strategy, mission and vision.

Who’s it for?

Senior managers and staff responsible for managing and developing volunteers. You may also be looking to start or refine an existing volunteer programme. There are six places available for investment clients. 

When and how much?

  • Applications open on 10 December 2018 and close on 8 February 2019.
  • Coaching takes place between March and June 2019.
  • $250 plus GST per organisation.

Evaluating databases, information and management reporting systems

A consultant will provide you with advice on how to:

  • access customer data and make better use of databases
  • assess and address problems with data, databases, information and management reporting systems and their implementation
  • choose a new CRM or ticketing system
  • integrate information systems they use regularly.

Participants will take part in a full-day consultation and audit at their organisation. After this they will receive a summary report with practical recommendations and an action plan.

Who is it for?

Staff responsible for marketing, audience development, box office management or who are involved in reporting. Participants should have a working knowledge of their organisation’s databases, ticketing, CRM and online systems. Six places are available for investment clients. 

When and how much?

  • Applications open on 10 December 2018 and close on 8 February 2019.
  • Coaching will take place between February and June 2019.
  • $500 plus GST per organisation.

Professional development grants

Organisations can apply for funding towards a professional development opportunity. This could include training within the domestic or international arts sector to help organisations stay updated on relevant trends, arts or industry practice, leadership and management development or another identified area.

Who’s it for?

Priority is given to the professional development of general managers but can also be for staff in positions across the organisation. Applications must be received from a general manager/artistic director.

When and how much?

  • Up to ten grants of $5,000 plus GST are available for clients within this package.  
  • Applications open on 25 February and close on 5 April 2019.

Colour Accounting workshops

Organisations are invited to attend a one-day workshop on accounting, profitability and powerful communication by the internationally recognised Colour Accounting and BDO. The one day course will teach the basics of accounting to non-accountants using interactive, 3-D and tactile activities, and colour! 

By attending this workshop you will:

  • gain new insights into how your organisation generates profits
  • understand how to keep useful records to help you achieve your goals
  • confidently read your organisation’s balance sheet and income statement
  • analyse the financial position, performance and changes in your organisation
  • develop skills to communicate powerfully with your staff and financial experts.

The old way of learning traditional finance is to focus on numbers. Colour Accounting approaches accounting as a language. This makes it easy for all sorts of learners to grasp accounting. It’s visual, hands-on, fun and proven.

The workshop covers:

  • balance sheets
  • income statements
  • funding strategies
  • recording transactions
  • accrual accounting, depreciation
  • business valuation
  • cash flow
  • value generation and profitability
  • performance measurement
  • financial analysis
  • financial communication and pitfalls
  • other specific topics as requested by participants.

Who is it for?

Chief executives, executive directors, general managers and finance managers from investment programme organisations. Up to 10 places are available in each workshop with up to one place per organisation.

  • Wellington: 19 February 2019
  • Auckland: 27 February 2019

How much and to register?

$50 plus GST per person (includes lunch).
