Arts Grants up to $10,000 | 2019 Round 2 Closing date: 4 Oct 2019

Arts Grants offer short-term project funding for New Zealand artists, arts practitioners and arts organisations. This funding enables more sustainable careers, encourages innovation and the development of arts practice, and provides opportunities for diverse communities to access the arts.

100 grants totalling $843,951 have been offered to support projects by New Zealand artists and practitioners in this funding round, across the three funding pools (General, Māori and Pacific). 322 eligible applications were received, with a total of $2,689,812 requested. The success rate for the round was 31%.

This was broken down as follows:

General Arts: 83 projects totalling $698,345 were supported. $2,373,093 was requested by 286 applicants.

Māori Arts: Eight projects totalling $71,716 were supported. $166,467 was requested by 18 applicants.

Pacific Arts: Nine projects totalling $73,529 were supported. $150,251 was requested by 18 applicants.

41% of the funded projects supported the development of arts practice and the creation of new work. 20% supported the presentation of work in New Zealand including performances, exhibitions and publishing. And the remainder were split between projects enabling New Zealanders to participate in the arts (17%), New Zealand arts gaining international success (12%) and building the resilience of the New Zealand arts sector (10%).
