Arts Grants 2020/21 Round 1 Closing date: 21 Aug 2020
Arts Grants offer short-term project funding for New Zealand artists, arts practitioners and arts organisations (including groups and collectives). This funding enables more sustainable careers, encourages innovation and the development of arts practice, and provides opportunities for diverse communities to access the arts.

47 grants totalling $1,929,617 have been offered to support projects by New Zealand artists and practitioners in this funding round, across the three funding pools (General, Māori and Pacific).
172 eligible applications were received, with a total of $5,923,426 requested.
This was broken down as follows:
- General Arts: 37 projects totalling $1,446,275 were supported. $4,863,584 was requested by 152 applicants.
- Māori Arts: 8 projects totalling $422,491 were supported. $851,154 was requested by 16 applicants.
- Pacific Arts: 2 projects totalling $60,850 were supported. $208,687 was requested by 5 applicants.
Also:
- 20 of the funded projects supported the development of arts practice and the creation of new work.
- 14 supported projects enabling New Zealanders to experience high-quality arts.
- 10 supported projects enabling New Zealanders to participate in the arts.
- 3 were to support building the resilience of the New Zealand arts sector.
