Annual Arts Grants 2021 Closing date: 13 Aug 2021
Annual Arts Grants offer funding to enable artists, arts practitioners and arts organisations to present a regular or continuous programme of activity over a 12-month period and/or produce or present a significant event or project.
29 grants totalling $3,734,234 have been offered to support projects by New Zealand artists and practitioners in this funding round, across the three funding pools (General, Māori and Pacific).
36 eligible applications were received, with a total of $5,057,093 requested.
We increased the budget for this programme by $1 million, drawing on the $5 million we were allocated this week from the Government’s COVID-19 Delta Relief Funding. This was broken down as follows:
- General Arts: 25 projects totalling $3,373,333 were supported. $4,381,144 was requested by 31 applicants.
- Māori Arts: 2 projects totalling $150,650 were supported. $265,750 was requested by 2 applicants.
- Pacific Arts: 2 projects totalling $210,251 were supported. $410,198 was requested by 3 applicants.
Also:
- 11 of the funded projects supported the development of arts practice and the creation of new work.
- 11 supported projects enabling New Zealanders to experience high-quality arts.
- 5 supported projects enabling New Zealanders to participate in the arts.
- 2 were to support building the resilience of the New Zealand arts sector
