COVID-19 UPDATE:

We’ll be offering new funding opportunities in our new financial year, which begins in July 2020, with some details available from late June. The new opportunities will be Phase 2 of our Emergency Response Package, a response to the negative impact of COVID-19 on the arts sector.

Our Phase 1 funding opportunities are now closed, having been offered between 14 April and the end of May, with a number of applications still being processed.

Each year Creative New Zealand provides funding to city and district councils for distributing in their area. The scheme supports more than 1,800 projects every year. Applications are made directly to your local council and closing dates vary. Read more

A delegation of Māori and contemporary Pasifika artists will be selected to represent Aotearoa New Zealand at the Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture (FestPAC) in Hawai'i in June 2020. All delegates are required to present or exhibit work at the festival. Read more

The first phase of the Short-term Relief for Investment Clients provides emergency support for existing investment clients to survive the impact of COVID-19, maintain their key people and in some cases support the broader ecology of freelance practitioners until 30 June 2020. Investment clients are the 83 arts organisations currently receiving multi-year funding via the Tōtara and Kahikatea investment programmes. Given the rapidly changing circumstances this will continue to be reassessed. Read more

There is no maximum amount, but organisations should request the minimum amount needed from Creative New Zealand in order for the organisation to regain stability or remain stable until 30 June 2020.

An Emergency Relief Grant is a contribution towards loss of income between 1 March and 30 June due to COVID-19. This grant is a lump sum top-up of the WINZ COVID-19 Wage Subsidy to align with Creative New Zealand’s policy to pay artists and arts practitioners fairly. Applicants to this fund must have successfully applied to the COVID-19 WINZ Wage Subsidy. The Creative New Zealand Emergency Relief fund is available for eligible independent artists and arts practitioners, and members of arts organisations (including groups and collectives). Read more
