We want to hear from mātanga toi, ringa toi Māori and hapori toi who have an interest in ngā toi Māori and want to share their whakaaro on how Toi Aotearoa can improve the way we work and support the development of ngā toi Māori.
We will be running kanohi-ki-te-kanohi (in-person) and online workshops facilitated by Māori for Māori – nā reira, tautī mai rā!
If you can’t make the online or in-person workshops, there is also an online submission option.

A digital space to talk meaningfully with like-minded arts communities about the future of arts development in Aotearoa New Zealand. This means talking about things like professional development and capacity building for artists, as well as funding pathways.
The sessions will last two-and-a-half to three hours, to allow time to whakawhanaungatanga and have rich conversations. There will be regular breaks to avoid Zoom fatigue.
During the session we'll cover
- innovation, future proofing, equity, and excellence in the arts
- what long-term sustainable arts development looks like for artists, arts organisations, and their communities
- how we’ll know the arts are thriving in Aotearoa New Zealand
You will have the opportunity to form small groups in online breakout rooms to discuss the topics that interest you and your community.
You’ll be given a few starter questions to spark the conversation.
If you want to have more time to build on your responses yourself or with others outside of the space – fantastic! An online submission form will be available to complete between Thursday 9 March - Sunday 2 April.
