Black Grace continue to receive rave reviews in America

Following their successful 2008 tour, New Zealand's leading contemporary dance company Black Grace has returned to the United States this month by popular demand.

Delivering a three-part programme, Black Grace are performing a selection of their best repertoire from the last 15 years, including; Minoi, a signature work based on the fusion of Samoan and western contemporary dance styles; excerpts from Surface a full-length piece based on traditional Samoan tattooing, and excerpts from Gathering Clouds, Neil Ieremia's latest full-length work.

The two-month long tour began with a sold out performance in Hawaii on 6th February. Following the performance it was announced on behalf of the Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu, by Michael Pili Pang - Director of the Mayors Office of Culture and Arts, that the 6th February 2010 was officially 'Black Grace Day!' This proclamation was delivered to Neil and the company on stage.

While in Boston over the last week (12.03.10) Neil and some of the Black Grace dancers visited Perkins School for the Blind presenting a customized dance class. Read about  in the Boston Herald.  Next the troupe heads to Vancouver for the International Dance Festival.
