Creative New Zealand offers a number of international artist residencies to provide opportunities for New Zealand artists to develop their practice, build international networks and enhance their careers.
These international residencies are offered through the Arts Board, Te Waka Toi and the Pacific Arts Committee. The residencies include travel, accommodation, a stipend and some material costs. We also support artists to undertake other international residencies through our project funding rounds.
Some of our residencies and fellowships have been put on hold for 2007/2008 for a number of reasons but mainly so we can take time out to look at these opportunities in the context of our wider Review of Project Funding and Special Opportunities for Artists. Further information is available here.
For more information, availability and closing dates contact Helaina Keeley, Tarisi Vunidilo (Pacific arts), Haniko Te Kurapa (Maori arts) and Eynon Delamere (Maori arts).
The annual Artists to Antarctica programme, administered by Antarctica New Zealand, supports New Zealand artists to spend time in Antarctica. Creative New Zealand offers each artist $10,000 to complete an approved project based on the experience. Visual artist Ronnie van Hout and author Tessa Duder are the 2007 Antarctic Artist Fellows. Contact Antarctica New Zealand for more information.
