The "quick response" touring fund is designed to support well-developed international tours that have been negotiated as a result of prior Creative New Zealand investment.
This fund will be available to companies involved in the Australian Performing Arts Market showcase programme as well as to productions with firm international tour offers that need a fast response to secure the deal.
To qualify for support, the work/company must have received Creative New Zealand funding and already toured successfully or had successful runs in New Zealand. Activities where there is little likelihood of short or medium-term commercial success may also be considered when clear arts development and/or market development benefits can be demonstrated.
Funds set aside under this scheme are strictly limited and demand may exceed the number of requests able to be supported. Proposals will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Funding decisions will be made by a committee comprising representatives of the Creative New Zealand Arts Development team, Audience and Market Development team and the wider arts sector (external assessors) as appointed by the project team. The recommendations of this committee will be approved by the Manager of Audience and Market Development.
Eligible artists and companies who believe they meet the criteria for funding under this new scheme should first contact Creative New Zealand's International Audience and Market Development Advisor with a brief written expression of interest (500 words max). If successful, they will be invited to submit a written touring proposal with the following information:
• a confirmed itinerary comprising three or more key international destinations
• confirmation of the offer of performance/concert dates, the negotiated fee and other arrangements or anticipated arrangements (including accommodation, per diem, fees etc) from the tour presenter(s)
• confirmation of the involvement of a least one national/international agent, producer or presenter
• evidence that the tour is achievable, taking into consideration the financial viability of the company; management resources; previous touring experience; risk management planning
• a feasible budget for the tour, including evidence of other funding sources such as alternative funding bodies, sponsors or donors
• a well-developed, long-term international market development strategy with details of how the proposed tour relates to your market development plans and overall business plan
• evidence of high-quality promotional materials to be included as support material.
Proposals will be considered on a case-by-case basis. This fund is designed for situations where only a quick response will secure an international tour offer and project funding or out-of-time applications (limited to $15,000) are not able to facilitate this decision. Where time allows, companies should continue to apply for funding through the project funding rounds.
