F.C.C is a collective of Pasifika theatre makers founded by playwright Victor Rodger and is presenting a new production of Wild Dogs Under My Skirt by Tusiata Avia at Mangere Arts Centre, 26 September to 1st October 2016. The production has been supported by Creative New Zealand and feature an exciting line-up of Pacific talent; Stacey Leilua (The Factory), Nora Aati (My Name Is Gary Cooper) , Malia ‘Ahovelo (Puzzy), Luse Sua Tuipulotu (Pigs On The Run) , Joanna Mika-Toloa (Girl On A Corner) and newcomer Grace Vanilau.
F.C.C. has previously presented acclaimed productions Club Paradiso by Victor Rodger and Puzzy by Kiana Rivera which also featured Victor Rodger.
Avia gained critical acclaim when she toured her landmark solo play around the world from 2002 to 2008 and the subsequent published poetry collection of the same name was released to similar success in 2004.
In 2015, her cousin, the award-winning playwright, Victor Rodger (Black Faggot, My Name Is Gary Cooper), decided to stage Wild Dogs Under My Skirt with six actresses as part of his regular F.C.C play readings in Auckland.
Directed by Arts Laureate Anapela Polataivao, Wild Dogs Under My Skirt was the most popular F.C.C. play reading of 2016 and the production at Mangere Arts Centre provides an opportunity for audiences to view the new production under a full cast.
Wild Dogs Under My Skirt marks the first time that the two creative cousins, Rodger and Avia are working together on a professional project.
“Avia confounds expectations with a light-hearted, ironic tone that is consistently entertaining” – Paul Simei Barton, The NZ Herald
