Creative New Zealand and the British Council are supporting six New Zealand arts practitioners to attend the Edinburgh Festivals’ international delegate programme, Momentum, this August.
The programme, taking place in Edinburgh from 17-23 August 2015, aims to connect international arts practitioners and offer a bespoke experience of the Edinburgh Festivals. New Zealand artists, producers and cultural partners will have the opportunity to build relationships with colleagues from the United Kingdom and around the world, with the hope of increasing touring and presentation opportunities, artistic exchanges and professional development.
New Zealand delegates will meet with key arts organisations, including the directors of Edinburgh’s 12 major festivals such as the world’s largest arts festival the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the prestigious Edinburgh International Festival. The delegates will also meet with independent venues, producers, companies and organisations from Scotland and across the UK.
Delegates receive up to $3,200 towards travel costs, seven night’s accommodation in Edinburgh, access to the delegate centre, a ticketing allowance, targeted hosted events and a bespoke itinerary. Delegates were selected through an application process.
The New Zealand delegates participating in Momentum 2015 (‘Momentum NZ’) are primarily focused on presenting work in Edinburgh in 2016 or have strategic objectives to develop relationships with Edinburgh-based venues and organisations. They are:
Stuart Grant, Director Capital E, Wellington, was also supported through the Momentum programme earlier this year to participate in Scotland’s Imaginate Children’s Festival.
Creative New Zealand and the British Council established Momentum NZ in 2013 as part of a partnership to support greater artistic collaboration and exchange between New Zealand and the United Kingdom. This partnership also contributed to more than 200 New Zealand artists attending the Edinburgh festivals in August last year for the NZ at Edinburgh 2014 season.
This is the third year that Creative New Zealand and the British Council have supported New Zealand arts practitioners to participate in the Momentum programme.
