Creative New Zealand Music Scholarships for 2017 now open

Support for brilliant young New Zealand musicians, and composers of all ages, is available through Creative New Zealand’s music scholarships. Up to $38,000 is available to support three scholarship programmes.

Music scholarships are designed to enable New Zealand musicians to progress their career globally. These scholarships assist musicians to develop their career, profile and potential.

The New Zealand/Aotearoa Music Scholarships

Each year, up to two New Zealand/Aotearoa Music Scholarships enable young musicians to undertake study or gain further musical experience at a tertiary institution in New Zealand or overseas. $16,000 is available in 2017 for up to two scholarships. See fund funding for more information.

Jack McGill Music Scholarship

The Jack McGill Music Scholarship was established in 1985 with interest from a bequest by Jack Wynnegate McGill. It supports young music practitioners who wish to further their music studies overseas, with priority is given to pianists. The scholarship is worth $10,000. See find funding for more information.

Edwin Carr Foundation Scholarship

The Edwin Carr Foundation Scholarship was established in 2004 with interest from the estate of the late Edwin Carr. It is open to outstanding New Zealand composers wanting to further their studies overseas. Up to $12,000 is available in 2017. See find funding for more information
