Creative New Zealand is calling for nominations for external peer assessors.
External peer assessors are asked to evaluate a range of applications made to Creative New Zealand’s funding programmes and initiatives against specific criteria.
They are people with an in-depth understanding of the art sector and current artform practice, including international trends and markets, or specialist knowledge of an area of arts development or capability building.
Creative New Zealand’s assessor pool is made up of artists, practitioners or people who have worked in the arts over a period of time.
Assessors are asked to provide artistic or strategic assessment for Arts Grants or investment funding, or assessment on the value of international or capability building opportunities for New Zealand arts practitioners.
They may also be asked to be on an assessment panel and/or meet with other peer assessors to provide funding recommendations to Creative New Zealand senior management and/or the Arts Council.
Peer assessors are offered an assessment fee based on a rate of $40 an hour. Fees are calculated according to the number of applications assessed, using 30-80 minutes per application as the basis for the fee, not the actual time taken.
Assessors can be nominated by completing the nomination form and sending it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Self-nominations will be accepted.
More information on the role of external assessors, payment, workload, privacy and conflict of interest can be found in Peer Assessor Terms and Conditions (pdf 260KB)
