A wide range of individual practitioners and arts organisations came together on 21 July for the Auckland Diversity Project hui. This was an opportunity for Auckland arts organisations and artists to share insights about the ways that programming can grow audiences in Māori, Pacific and Asian communities.

We would like to thank all our speakers for their valuable perspectives that can lead to on-going conversations on this theme.

Feedback from the Auckland Diversity Project hui:

“A fantastic initiative - please continue facilitating these cross-community conversations. No one else is doing so.” (Helaina Keeley- Auckland Live)

“Hats off to the organisations that presented their work - we loved that live physical inside glimpse into what is being funded and why - and we thought them all very deserving.” (Sue Nelson- NZTrio)

“Be bold! I'd love the hui to challenge us, and allow us to learn more.” (Ta'i Paitai)

“It was very encouraging to hear case studies of projects that work in terms of programming diversity. It gave me some good ideas to think about for future programming and the cultural make up our organisation.” (Carrie Rae Cunningham- Tempo Dance Festival)

“For next year’s hui it would be good to have more flexibility for people to share ideas with others and to discuss potential partnerships.” (Courtney Meredith- Manukau Institute of Technology)
