Project Manager - 11th Festival of Pacific Arts (Fixed Term - ending Oct 2012)
Based in either our Wellington or Auckland office.
The position is offered on a full time, fixed term basis until October 2012.

The first Pacific Arts Festival was held in Fiji in 1972 and was born out of a desire to draw international attention to the rich and diverse cultural heritages of the Pacific. New Zealand has had a delegation at every Festival. These delegations are funded through Te Waka Toi, the Maori arts board of Creative New Zealand.

The 11th Pacific Arts Festival is to be held in the Solomon Islands in 2012 and is expected to attract Pacific Artists from more than 20 Pacific Island countries.

In order to facilitate the attendance of a New Zealand delegation at this Festival, Creative New Zealand is seeking applications from suitably experienced project managers.

Reporting to the Manager, Maori Arts Services, you will plan, promote, facilitate and coordinate the New Zealand delegation, and work with others to ensure that an effective communications plan is in place. The successful candidate for this role will have:

  • in-depth event management, logistics and coordination skills and experience
  • fluency in Te reo and understanding of Tikanga Maori
  • demonstrated knowledge of Maori Arts
  • excellent communications with highly developed interpersonal and influencing skills.

This is a challenging, exciting and demanding position which will require a consultative approach, promotional skills and effective liaison abilities.
