Creative New Zealand's Māori Arts Board Te Waka Toi will once more honour those who champion Māori arts from a community level to the international stage at the annual Te Waka Toi Awards on 29 August at the Duxton Hotel in Wellington.
Three scholarships for Māori students studying at tertiary level and eight awards including Te Tohutiketike, the Te Waka Toi supreme award for a lifetime commitment to the arts will be announced on the night.
The evening will also be a chance to reflect on the passing of former Te Tohutiketike award recipients, master carver Pakariki Harrison, earlier this year and the recent passing of renowned weaver, Diggeress Te Kanawa.
