Congratulations also to the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery for being the third arts organisation to be awarded the Arts Foundation of New Zealand Governor's Award. The award marks the unwavering commitment of the gallery in setting "a benchmark for commitment to the new". The gallery has been at the heart of the contemporary art movement in New Zealand for nearly 40 years exhibiting some of the most exciting contemporary work produced by New Zealand artists.
Julian Dashper was among those have who exhibited a major exhibition at the Govett, which showed Julian Dashper's Greatest Hits in 1992. The recent passing of Julian Dashper is a very sad loss to the visual arts community and the arts in New Zealand.
