New Zealand at WOMEX 2008 : expressions of interest

Creative New Zealand, in association with NZMC (New Zealand Music Commission), is supporting a presence at the World Music Expo in Seville, Spain in 2008. New Zealand will have a trade fair booth which will promote New Zealand world music with an emphasis on Māori and Pasifika music.

Sampler

We are producing a sampler CD of ten professional New Zealand musicians or music groups who have toured nationally and, preferably, have international experience. The music should be appropriate for a world music market and have a distinctive New Zealand sound.

Dates

A call for expressions of interest opens on Friday, 4 July 2008 and closes on Monday, 4 August 2008.

A final decision on the ten selected musicians/groups will be made by 28 August 2008.

WOMEX 2008 runs from 29 October to 2 November 2008.

Expressions of Interest

Musicians wishing to be considered for inclusion on the sampler should send a brief expression of interest to international@creativenz.govt.nz detailing:

• Name of band/artist
• Contact person and contact details
• The suitability of the music being produced
• Previous touring experience.
