Types Of Grants And Investments

We provide support via four different types of grants and investments:


Quick Response Grants

PURPOSE

To provide support to New Zealand artists and practitioners to assist them to research, develop, present, promote, or distribute high-quality New Zealand art.
 

CRITERIA


The project
The project must be completed within 12 months of Creative New Zealand offering you the grant.


People involved in the project
The key creative artists or practitioners involved in your proposed project must have, in their area of arts practice:

  • specialised training or practical experience
  • recognition from peers or experts
  • a track record of success: public recognition for the public presentation of at least one work

Amount of funding available and when
The maximum amount you can apply for is:

  • $7,500 to the Arts Board or Te Waka Toi
  • $5,000 to the Pacific Arts Committee.

Quick Response Grants are offered three times a year by each of Creative New Zealand’ s funding bodies – the Arts Board, Te Waka Toi, and Pacific Arts Committee.


We’ll tell you our decision six weeks after the closing date for applications.

 


Arts Grants

PURPOSE


To provide support to New Zealand artists and practitioners to assist them to research, develop, present, promote, or distribute high-quality New Zealand art.

  • recognition from peers or experts
  • a track record of success: public recognition for the public presentation of at least one work.

The maximum amount you can apply for is:

  • $65,000

Arts Grants are offered twice a year by each of Creative New Zealand’s funding bodies – the Arts Board, Te Waka Toi, and Pacific Arts Committee.


We’ll tell you our decision 11 weeks after the closing date for applications.

 


Arts Investments

PURPOSE


To provide support to established New Zealand artists, practitioners and organisations to assist them to research, create and present high-quality New Zealand art.

 

CRITERIA

 

The project
The project must:

  • be an integrated project to research, create and present an artwork or several artworks, and
  • take between six months and two years to complete.

It must also have:

  • financial or in-kind support from sources other than Creative New Zealand, or a high likelihood of achieving this, and
  • endorsement from two people who have standing and recognition in the relevant area of arts practice and, where relevant, standing in your particular cultural community.

People involved in the project
To be eligible you must be an established artist, practitioner, group or organisation. In your area of arts practice, you must:

  • have recently achieved the successful public presentation or publication of at least three high-quality artworks, events or programmes, and
  • have endorsement and support from at least two peers or experts.

Amount of funding available and when
There is no upper limit on the amount you can apply for. For $65,000 or more, contact our staff before applying.


To be eligible for an Arts Investment you must be an established artist/practitioner. Arts Investments are offered once a year by each of Creative New Zealand’s funding bodies – the Arts Board, Te Waka Toi, and Pacific Arts Committee.

Sector Investments

PURPOSE


To foster and maintain the skills, resources and networks needed for New Zealand artists and practitioners and organisations to present, promote and distribute high-quality art.


There are two types:

  • Sector Investments to Develop Potential, and
  • Sector Investments to Deliver the Arts.

CRITERIA


The project
The project must be either:

  • a larger scale one-off event, or
  • a programme or activity occurring over a period of up to three years.

It must also have:

  • financial or in-kind support from sources other than Creative New Zealand, or a high likelihood of achieving this, and
  • endorsement from two people who have standing and recognition in the relevant area of arts practice and, where relevant, standing in your particular cultural community.

People involved in the project
To be eligible you must be an established artist, practitioner, group or organisation. In your area of arts practice, you must:

  • have recently achieved the successful public presentation or publication of at least three high-quality artworks, events or programmes, and
  • have endorsement and support from at least two peers or experts.
