Krishnan's Dairy

Grant type: Arts grant
Amount received: $106,500
Date of project: 1996 - ongoing

About this story:

Krishnan’s Dairy had its genesis in 1994 as a 20-minute solo piece created by Jacob Rajan as a student of Toi Whakaari. In 1996, Jacob collaborated with Justin Lewis to form the Indian Ink Theatre Company and turn this tragic-comic love story into a full-length play. The show immediately garnered popular and critical acclaim with sold out performances in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and the U.K., as well as a slew of awards. Over 50,000 people have seen Krishnan’s Dairy worldwide and the show continues to have an extraordinary life, still captivating audiences, 14 years on.
