Cultural Diversity
Spotlight on Diversity Ambassador Scheme
Following on from the Asian Aucklanders and the Arts research, the Spotlight on Diversity programme aims to develop culturally diverse audiences by engaging Arts Ambassadors from different ethnic constituents to work with arts organisations under the direction of marketing and audience development specialists.
Arts Ambassadors will work as community networkers to develop new Asian audiences through people-to-people marketing.
Massive Company, THE EDGE and Oryza Foundation for Asian Performing Arts developed a partnership programme to deliver an Arts Ambassador Scheme in 2008, and this pilot scheme proved successful in reaching and attracting interest from diverse new audiences, specifically amongst Auckland’s Asian communities. 42% of the Ambassadors were of Asian heritage and most were aged between 20-35 years old. The Scheme is currently being reviewed for further development in 2009/10.
